Terrain: low coral atolls.
Climate:tropical with regular easterly tradewinds with westerly storms from November to March.
Common Flora: Coconut, pandanus, breadfruit, taro, banana, and papaya are the most common plants.
Common Fauna: Migratory sea birds are often seen, while rats, lizards, pigs and chickens were all introduced by humans.
Notes:

  • Tuvalu was formerly known as the Ellice Islands and, with Kiribati, was part of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands while they were a British colony.
